1). Open Forum:

            Foreclosures           

            Massachusetts is suing against illegal foreclosures; look at this as an option to bring to Oregon State. If we do choose to occupy foreclosed homes, we need to focus on how best to utilize that time for maximum support and exposure, while we are there. Occupy Portland had occupied a foreclosed home but were kicked out an hour later, not receiving much attention for their work.

• Move committee meetings to public place. Nick will check with Rich at Oregon Action to see if we can use space in the Woolworth’s building on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. Next meeting 12/28 6:00 pm.

December 17th - Occupy Medford in the Library

Announcements/Open Forum

Mark: We have purchased a megaphone for just under $60.00.
Mark: Will the Chrismas Caroling be shown in the Tribune?

Ben: We sent out a press release with an edited video to local media, we’re hoping it will but aren’t sure.

Ben: I would like to repeat our caroling flash mob in the upcoming week.

Alec: Know your law session by NSWA is January 16^th or 18^th.

Ivand: Alen Bates is not for the single payer system and in fact has tried to keep it in the insurance companies hands. However, after a recent meeting he had a question for the Vermont Singlepayer speakers present which revealed he is for whoever speaks with him the most. This means if we contact him enough in solidarity with the single payer system  he may join our side.

November 26th - Occupy Medford in the Library

We are moving in to our second month, the coldest months yet in the Occupation. Much has been discussed and we have taken our organization to a sustainable level of organization and cooperation with our fellow organizations.

November 19th - Occupy Medford in Alba Park

About 20 people showed up to today’s cold and windy General Assembly in Alba Park. Starting with open discussion and announcements, Debbie Herzogh invites us to join in a protest dubbed Occupy Rural Oregon in regards to Representative Walden’s failures in communicating with his constituents. It was motioned and passed to support the protests through web awareness and Occupy Medford’s presence.

November 5th - Occupy Medford in Alba Park (Week 4)

November 5th marks Occupy Medford's 4th week in Alba Park. Over the course of these 4 weeks, we have had many great discussions, planned about 9 events outside of GA meetings, and made many friends. We have attracted roughly 3-4 new people  each meeting, and our core number has steadily grown, albeit slowly.

For these first few weeks we have focused mainly on public education through sign's and a presence in high traffic areas which focus on moving your money (Bank Transfer Day/Move Your Money) from the major banks which have betrayed the American Dream, to our local bank and credit unions which will help recreate the American Dream in our own back yard.

October 29th - Occupy Medford in Alba Park

Yesterday's event was another success. Again the group focused on those areas which Medford's Occupy Movement can effect immediately. This week's upcoming calendar is chalked full of events.

October 22nd - Occupy Medford in Alba Park

The first thing one would notice when entering Alba Park is the smaller crowd. But is this a terrible thing? The range of issues spoken about in the last meeting was eye opening, yet the smaller crowd today seemed to be focused on key issues which can quickly make a difference in our community and can send a message to the banks and politicians who've gotten us in to this mess.

October 15th - Occupy Medford in Alba Park

Today was the first meeting for the Occupy movement in Medford, Oregon. I arrived roughly 45 minutes after people had started gathering in Alba Park across from the Medford Post Office. Shortly after my arrival began the open session where people with a desire to be heard were able to speak to the Medford movement as a whole.

I immediately began to take notes on the points within each speaker’s conversation so as to gain a picture of the Occupy Medford’s persona. With roughly 30 speaker’s participating, the topics covered a variety of areas.
